BristolCon Fringe: June 2016 - Justin Newland

Our second reader for June was Justin Newland, better known as "the man who asks questions" from our Q&A sessions. Justin read a short story set during the building of Hadrian's Wall, and the opening chapter of his novel, The Genes of Isis.
Stephanie was able to stay for the reading but had to leave during Justin's Q&A session. We had a short break while she left, but when we came back no one had any new questions so we just did announcements, which have been tacked on to this recording.

BristolCon Fringe: June 2016 - Stephanie Burgis

There were a couple of changes of plan for June. Firstly a technical hitch meant that we had no microphone for our readers. We were able to record directly rather than from the AV but the sound quality may not be as good. In addition, because Stephanie had to leave early to catch a train home, we had her on first and did her Q&A immediately afterwards. This first recording is of that session.
Stephanie read to us from her first adult novel, Masks and Shadows, which is an historical fantasy set during the days of the Austro-Hungarian empire. Most of the action takes place at the Eszterháza Palace, the home of Prince Nikolaus Esterházy. One of the major characters is the composer, Joseph Haydn.
